Robbrecht en Daem architecten designed the interior of the new café of the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels. A café should be a microcosmos of the world. This is reflected literally in the round mirrors and the hoop chandeliers. It is a place for art in the modesty of a café. Valérie Mannaerts created specifically for this interior three hand-embroidered curtains, called ‘Pleasure in Making (Curtain for Bozar)’. This artwork creates in turn a defined space. Victor Bozar Café is a place to stay and talk about an art exhibition or a concert, to linger, to have coffee, to read. For other artists to perform, argue, draw or write. The opening of the café with the inauguration of the artwork by Valérie Mannaerts is Friday 16 September.
