Following an international 'Open Call' competition organized by Flemish Governement Architect Robbrecht en Daem architecten, leading a design team consisting of  Robbrecht en Daem, Dierendonckblancke, VK and Arup in collaboration with  Bureau Bas Smets, Muller Van Severen and Grontmij, has been selected to design the new media building for the VRT, the Flemish Radio and Television Company in Brussels, Belgium.

The project site is part of a larger masterplan organized around a new park and event square, comprising  two new media buildings for both the Flemish and the Walloon broadcasting companies, housing and additional media facilities. The 55.000 m2 VRT project consists of two volumes, addressing both the new park and the urban fabric of Brussels. Central to the concept, a new vibrant and covered square connects the different parts of the public realm.

Robbrecht en Daem architecten is extremely excited and honoured to have been selected for the VRT. Along with our team we look forward to working together to develop the high ambition of this new cultural building and centre of creativity that affects the perception of our daily lives.
